Listening and Learning like a Professional $50
Close and critical engagement with the stories you love in order to help you tell stories that others will love.
How can you train your producer ear to notice how others wield the craft of sound and story in their work to better your own story craft? Did you notice when the ambient track began or ended? How did that effect your experience as a listener? Why did they not tell it chronologically? Was the music emotional fascism or used only structurally as scene transition? Dissection is a form of flattery and a fun way to make you a better storyteller.
2 hour webinar (20min break included).
In the first part of the session will review close listening tips for critical understanding of the podcast craft. Participants will be sent a listening worksheet prior to the webinar as well as a produced piece for everyone to pre-listen to so we can have a shared story to develop terminology around.
The second part of the session will be for participants to share how they might use some of the techniques we discussed in their own project. What did breaking apart a produced scene inspire you to bring to your own story? How will you use music differently after what we critically listened to in the first section?
Suitable for any level of experience, from listener to producer.
Basic craft and narrative terminology, podcast analysis skills, storytelling craft techniques transferable to your own work.
Community, peer and contact development.
Cost: $50. Participants will be invoiced only after the course has reached a minimum enrollment and confirmed. PayPal preferred method.
